The Barber Competition Wave!!

I've been involved with the Barber competition circuit since 2011. Back then there were 2 annual Barber competitions in the local area. They were the Proudlady and The Wahl National Cutting Competition. With it being really just two Barber shows competitors would be preparing for at least 6months for each show.(Most of us at least). Starting around 2013 more shows were added by different individuals in the industry. This gave barbers more opportunity to showcase their skills. As a competitor I always wanted to test my skill against the top barbers around. Competing in many shows local(Illinois,Indiana,Wisconsin) made me want to take it further. I started traveling to other Cities & States like Omaha Nebraska, St.Louis, Atlanta Georgia, New York, Orlando Florida, DesMoines Iowa, Louisville Kentucky, Cleveland Ohio & Danville Illinois. Nowadays there are shows being hosted every other week and some are on the same day. So there is a choice for the Barbers. In 2016 I hosted my very own show to check off a bucket list goal of mine. The plan was to do one and that would be it. To give a show based from a competitors point of view. A barber that competed told me how much they enjoyed the show and motivated me do do another. So I did Battle of the Champions 2 & 3. Now with it being so many shows people have a lot to say but the main thing is the people who participate have no problem with it and they are enjoying themselves. The thing that is being effected is the attendance, participation, categories aren't filling up and the lack of creativity is at an all time low (Unless it's a Best Fade, Fastest Fade).Back in the day rarely was there only 3 people in a category. Now its been happening at a lot of the shows. Like how many different old school cuts are there. Creativity is something you want to see at a hairshow. I learn something at EVERY SHOW that I've been to. Even if its hey never do that at your show or incorporate something like this with yours. I enjoy them to the fullest and S/O to the Barbers & Cosmetologist who've ran and hosted their very own event. Hope to see you all at The Battle of the Champions 4.
